The flash is great, the ONLY downside fall is they changed the ring so the dome defuser will not sit on it. :/ any photographer knows the dome defuser is a game changer.

I've been using the Godox V1 and V1 Pro for years, and now the Godox V100 has exceeded my expectations! Its performance is top-notch, with powerful output and versatile features that make it perfect for all my photography needs. The new touch screen design is especially impressive, giving it a more premium feel and making it easier to use. Maybe the 100W power is an expected upgrade, and I have to say the compact design and user-friendly controls are advantages I never anticipated.

This v100 has exceptional build quality. The mechanism that allows you to turn and tilt the head is (IMHO) perfectly dampened (it's stiff but smooth). Feels solid when handling. The battery can be charged while inserted in the flash unit via USB-C, which is convenient (one less charger to haul around). The touchscreen Ul is very good, but I can see how it can bog down those that need to make lighting quick adjustments on the go. It locks in securely via the hot shoe mechanism. A small but brilliant detail is that the metal mount slides tightly into the camera hot shoe, without any side to side play allowing for good alignment. The flash is powerful and has a modeling light and is aesthetically pleasing while having tight tolerances. The only exception when it comes to build quality is the click wheel which feels loose and moves around when you use it (probably in line with all other flashes, but I felt it was important to bring it to your attention). If they can make the wheel a tighter fit, this would be a perfect product in terms of build quality. Overall, the V series keeps making noticeable improvements to an already popular flash. Well done.

I'm just unpacking and experimenting with it a bit. So a few observations. Flash comes with a VB30 battery, which seems to have the same specs as the VB26B at 2950Ah but allows direct charging with a USBC cable, which is quite useful. It's not quite intuitive how to put battery in, so have to look for the contacts and figure out which side to insert from, and then there is a battery release switch (not labeled) on the side to remove battery. The little circular wheel is very stiff, and is taking some getting used to, not sure yet about that. The menu structure is not very intuitive, and there is a magical double click that opens up sub menus even thought there is no clue that they exist unless you read manual. The head swivels a full 90degress to the right, but somewhat less than that to the left so if you want to bounce off of back wall need to make sure you go to the right. Flash seems relatively well built. The magnets on the front of the flash for the various attachments in the AK-R1 kit are fairly weak. They seem to connect, but are very loose, not sure if they will stay on or not. Flash is very powerful so great for bounce flash usage. But it can be too powerful at close range. Even at lowest setting, it overpowers closer distances, so limits settings and distance. I've done some experimentation with the X3 trigger and all seems to work well.
